3D nail ar- wait, what?!

First order of business, The Little Things Blog now has a Facebook page! So go check it out, give it a "Like" and say hello! I will try and do my best to reply to all (non-spam) greetings and questions.

Pretty soon, there will be and instagram, twitter and pinterest set up, but all in due time!

I've been taking part in the #januaryphotochallenge on my personal Instagram and today's photo tag was #nails. Now, with my limited knowledge and skill set for intricate nail art, I didn't feel the IG world would appreciate my less than polished manicure. So, with this in mind I set out to find a really cool set of nails that were unique and something that nail-art enthusiasts might appreciate, that's when I came upon this...

and of course, Hello Kitty...

Now, having no idea this trend even existed, I have to admit I was relatively intrigued at first, and found out that this trend started in Japan and has actually become quite popular among young, bored, american girls and middle-aged women with too much money and teenage daughters

Sets can get pretty pricey and according to the website TanaNail, you can get a lovely "Queen of Nail" set for around $48.00. Seriously though, look at these things, how do you DO anything with these? Typing, texting (certainly), going to the restroom? It would probably be a chore just to flip someone off!

Overall, I'm still pretty confused by the whole trend, and definitely WONT be purchasing the 3D nail art anytime in the near future. However, i'd actually love to meet someone with a full set and see what the fuss is all about.

What do you think? Do you like this fad? Would you wear these on a regular basis, special occasions?

Let me know in the comments below!

Thanks for reading! See you soon!

  1. I for one did not realize nails have gotten so extreme! I have French tips and it is hard enough to peel a sticker for my daughter or pick up change if I drop it. If I ever met someone with these nails I would have a lot of questions after I got over the inital shock that someone was actually brave or crazy enough to try this trend.
