March Favorites + Monthly Wrap Up!

Am I the only one who thinks that March just flew by? The end of this month was pretty exciting and really sneaked up on me! It was my husbands 30th birthday, my 3rd year of employment within the same company and it was also Good Friday! (all on the 29th!)

Aside from that, I have some really exciting March favorites. I got the chance to purchase some new things and had an overall very lucky streak with new products! I had absolutely planned on making a video for the March favorites, but I haven't built up the courage to do it yet. Anyways, let's get started on my March favorites!

I'll start with beauty, since it is the largest category.

Neutrogena Pore Refining Toner - I talked about using witch hazel in a previous post but decided to switch to this toner and I am loving it! I have been using it for almost a month and am seeing a slight size difference in my pores problem areas! Give it a try, especially if you already love the Neutrogena line like me!

Covergirl "Lip Perfection" Jumbo Lip Balm (#215 Watermelon Twist) I love this lip product! I don't like gloss because it's always too sticky and i find that most lipsticks dry out my habitually chapped lips. I picked this up because I saw it on a YouTube video and am SO glad that I did! It's hydrating, without being sticky and has great color payoff!

Some other things I'm loving are the Revlon Photoready Color Correcting Primer, Masque Bar: Pore Refining Mask, Colgate Optic White Wisp and the Urban Decay Primer Potion in Greed. (Which I got for $10!)

I'm sure you're not surprised by my hair favorites. I reviewed the John Frieda Full Repair Deep Conditioner and Style Revival Styling Spray  in this previous post and couldn't forget to include them since I raved about them so much!

Even though I chopped off all of my hair, I still use them on a regular basis!

My two favorite polishes have been the Essie "Turquoise & Caicos"  and the Sally Hansen "Mint Sorbet".

I picked up the Studio 35 Beauty Nail Wraps in "Confetti" (Walgreens) on sale and they have a really great life on the nail. Mine lasted for 7 days! I've also been using the Sally Hansen: Nail Hardener and the Nutra Nail's Cuticle Remover.

I also wanted to share some of my more delicious March finds with you all!

My Wal-Mart finally started carrying more than one Snapple flavor! I have been obsessed with the raspberry tea and buying it all up for fear they will stop selling it! I can't be the only one who does that, right?

I've also started liking the Naked brand juices but my absolute favorite is the "Green Machine", looks strange, tastes amazing!

Time for fun!

I upgraded my phone to the Samsung Galaxy SIII and I have been so happy that I did! I almost went with the Note2 but it was a tad to large for a phone, for my taste!

An app i've been obsessed with is the Zen Pinball HD. The graphics are so beautiful and there are a lot of really great tables at reasonable prices! The app is free and comes with 1 free table already!

Favorite YouTuber: grav3yardgirl - Bunny! She is hysterical and unconventional, which is why I love her! She also lives in Texas like myself! Her style is very unique and she doesn't hold her personality back. If you don't already know and love her, visit her youtube, subscribe and give an alligator its wings!!

If you've made it this far, great job! I usually give you all a quick recap of my Month but this time I thought i'd just show it to you in photos! Enjoy!

Got a haircut!
Got The Sims3: Season (finally!)
Played Putt-Putt!
Went to the South Texas State Fair!
Had the Krispy Kreme Donut Burger at the fair! (yum-o)
Found some amazing organic patchouli soap! (happy inner-hippie!)
Well that wraps it up for me folks! How was your March? What are you looking forward to in April? Have you tried any of my March favorites? What did you think of them? Let me know!

Polyvore: Pastel Pretties!

Easter is right around the corner, and since I have been busy getting stuff ready for the very special March favorites update, I thought I'd take the time to showcase an Easter time favorite, Pastels!

I don't own a lot of pastels, which actually saddens me a bit. So, i took to polyvore to create 3 springy, pastel dream looks for my imaginary closet the size of the White House!
Pastels and Petals

Outfit #1 was planned around that blouse. I thought it was so silky and floral and it could be styled many ways, but I wanted to play up the pink detailing with some like-colored shorts and play off the silky shine with some rose-metallic ballet flats!
Outfit #2 was built around those minty/turquoise shorts. I loved the detailing of the belt and thought the tropicalness of the shirt brought a different look to the usual flowery look. I love that those flats bring in every color from the outfit!
Outfit #3 was designed around those pale pink oxfords. I wanted to build a casually preppy look and feel like the button-down paired with a longer light blue short really tied it together.

Since I found myself bitten by the pastel bug, I went on to find some Easter/Spring makeup, nail and lip looks.

Pastel Pretty

I enjoy that these looks are all diverse, but keep with the same theme of spring/Easter. What look is your favorite? Do you like pastel nails, or do you prefer the hot pink/orange lip combo? How about a light blue lip, brave enough to give it a try?

All that said, I hope you enjoyed this post and got some inspiration for your egg-hunting, lemonade drinking, bunny-hop dancing Easter Sunday!

Style Wish List: Pinafore

I don't know about you all, but I am definitely feeling the pinafore dress this spring! One of my new favorite fashion inspirations, Dahlia Fashion, has their super cute Ella Pinafore back in stock now! (above) I am lusting over this dress, but at 64 pounds it's a little out of my reach.

The pinafore comes in different cuts and silhouettes and can be styled so many different ways! Check out New York blogger, Flashes of Style to see how she plays up the pinafore with a fedora and printed blouse!

I took to Polyvore to created a look based on some the styling that I've been seeing!
Pinafore Dreamin'

I am not on the hunt for a reasonably affordable pinafore style dress. I have found a few on New Look for between 13 and 17 pounds, but I'm not sure if they ship internationally.

So, what do you all think of the Pinafore dress? What would you pair it with? Let me know in the comments below! Don't forget to leave your URL and we will check out your blog and maybe even start following!

Sorry for the short post today, but now I'm off to get my haircut! Also, we now have a  Bloglovin' account, but i'm honestly still a little confused by the website and trying to adjust. Feel free to follow us there also!

Review: 2 John Frieda "Full Repair" Products

Howdy everyone! A week ago I did a "confessions" entry where I admitted some of my hair woes and told you guys I would be treating my hair with the John Frieda Full Repair: hydrate + rescue deep conditioner. Well, I'm here to give you all a hair update + a review of the deep conditioner and the style revival, heat-activated spray. (also from the Full Repair line)

Like I stated in my previous post, I was really drawn to the John Frieda Full Repair line based on some personal and online reviews. Their website has a 100% approval rating out of 27 total reviews, so I thought that really spoke volumes about this product.

I purchased it a Ulta for $7.99, it was originally priced at $9.99 but had a "Save $2 now!" sticker right on top! I thought for the price, compared to others around that range, I couldn't beat it.

Per the instructions on the box the first time I used it I washed my hair and then saturated it with the deep conditioner and wrapped it in a hot towel for 25 minutes. I have used it twice since then as a 5-minute treatment after shampooing and I can honestly say that I'm starting to notice a difference.

My hair feels softer, but I can still feel the texture of all the damaged ends that I caused. The undamaged top, I've noticed, has been a little less frizzy. I don't feel like it weighs down my hair, since my hair is thick already, this is a plus! On top of that, it smells divine!

Overall I give this a 5-star rating!

I have also been using the Style Revival spray to help further protect my hair from heat damage.

This is priced at $9.99 from Ulta but I saw it clearanced out at my Wal-Mart for $4.00! I'm not the biggest fan of spray in heat protectors, they usually leave my hair heavy and oily but for that price, and the fact it was the Full Repair brand, I could not pass it up!

I love this spray!  I have no earthly idea why it was on clearance, but it is so amazing. Per the instructions I mist this in my damp hair (about 5 times) and then blow dry as usual.

First off, smells heavenly! I don't even need to flat iron my hair after using this stuff. It makes my hair so soft and really tames my crazy split ends. Also, totally weightless and zero grease!

Another 4-star rating from me!

I'm aware that the only real thing that will help my badly damaged hair is a haircut, which I have scheduled one for Saturday at my favorite local salon On Stage Hair Salon & Day Spa! I want to go back to my pixie cut, but I also feel the desire to try a short bob with blunt bangs. What do you guys think?

PS - The Ginnifer Goodwin pixie is the cut I got when I chopped it off a year ago. The same one in the post, here. And, my hair is not as long as Lindsey Shaw (Paige from PLL) so it would be right at chin length for me, but would grow out.

Well I hope you guys enjoyed this post and if you have dry or damaged hair why not give the John Frieda Full Repair hair care line a try!

Thanks for reading!

Confessions of a Blogger Tag! Did I Tag YOU?!

So i've totally neglected you all this weekend! Blame it on The Sims3 and Pretty Little Liars! I tragically lost my hard drive last week and had to replace it, (rest in peace). I spent almost a whole day installing, updating and re-installing my custom content for TS3. I had so many families and legacies that I have been playing for literally years, all gone. Sad, sad day.

On another note, I started watching Pretty Little Liars on Netflix. Don't judge! Really though, i'm only one like episode 8 so, don't ruin anything for me! I cant wait to watch more. It's become the highlight of all of my lunch breaks! I am seriously in love with Lucy Hale's character Aria (and her scandalous relationship!)

Fresh Pair of Eyes - Brooke Waggoner

Brittle Winter - Gemma Hayes

Now onto the good stuff! I was tagged in the "Confessions of a Blogger" tag by the lovely KimPants! She is super sweet! I found her through MakeupGeek and she has so many great makeup looks, so go check her blog out!

When did you start your blog?
-January 01, 2013

Have you had any online presence before? (Other blog, Youtube)
-I co-hosted a Sims3 modeling competition and blog for 5 seasons. *lamesauce*

Why did you start a blog?
-I used to write all the time and it was always a great way to focus my thoughts and help me manage my life and my head. When I met my sister-from-a-Cuban-mister (Marina) it really sparked a desire in me to share my personal stories along with my love for fashion and beauty while having to work with a budget.

When did you become serious about starting a blog?

-About November 2012. I would say about 6 months before that we had talked about starting up this blog, but nothing ever really started taking form until around November.

What was your first post?
-A sort of hello, and a warning to everyone that I know about the possibility of being blogged about! Ha, you can read it HERE.

What has been your biggest challenge about blogging?
-Keeping my ideas organized. I think of stuff at the worst possible time (trying to sleep, working, driving) and now i keep a tiny notebook in my purse to jot stuff down, keep track of favorites etc... I also will send Marina a text just so I can get some feedback and know i'll have a place to look back on ideas we've forgotten about.

Where do you see your blog in one year?
-I hope to be doing YouTube videos soon. I hope that in a year I am able to come out of my shell and bring you some makeup looks and Halloween looks. I'd love to do some giveaways and just continue to share my life with you!

What is the most rewarding thing to you about blogging?
-Almost the entire blogging community is so friendly and genuine. I have started following some truly talented people who have guided me and been supportive of my blog. It's so refreshing to meet and talk with people who have the same interests and struggles with their blog and its content. There are some spammers out there, but i just try and overlook them!

What is your lasting inspiration or motivation?
-By far, the person who really propelled me into this desire to start a blog, Marina. She is always a fashion and beauty inspiration to me and continues to spark my desire and creativity. Without her as my friend, my life would be a lot less colorful.

I tag:  Tallia @ Trendinginfashion and Carlee @ The Payton Periodicals +everyone else reading this! Go check out their blogs!

If you do the tag please leave me a comment below and i'll go check it out! Don't forget to leave your URL and if you give us a follow, let me know! Thanks for reading!

Back to Basics: Skincare (oily/combo)

Welcome to the second edition of our Back to Basics series. Throughout this series we will be covering the basics of things like foundation applications, concealing, blush application and more! The basic things you should know, at any age or skill level!

For our first B2B, we covered dry/sensitive skin with Jessica. We have lumped the skincare segment into (2) parts; dry/sensitive and oily/combo. This post will cover the oily/combo types with me, Marina!

Through this post we will go over some basic do's and don'ts, then we will move into some recommended products for an oily/combo skin routine. I will also let you in on which products I use currently and how they do (or do not) really work for me!

Let's get started!

(Do's and Don'ts)

Do: Cleanse your skin ever day before going to bed. This will both keep your pillow clean and keep the oil you produce at night from caking your makeup into your pores.

Don't: Strip your skin with drying cleansers and astringents. This will only create dryness and FORCE your body to create more oil.

Do: Drink lots of water. Staying hydrated is extremely important to keep your skin working properly. It is an organ after all.

Don't: Cover your face with powder to reduce the shine. Use oil absorbing sheets instead.

(My Routine & Recommended Products)

I am a huge fan of restoring my skin barrior and babying my skin a little. I damaged it a lot with harsh toners and scrubs when I was younger. I am going back to basics with my skincare instead of going extra high tech with it. I am sticking with my dermatoligist created lines and they are working VERY well for me. (The lines are Cetaphil and CeraVe). I am also eating a lot of fruits and vegetables and fish to help keep my skin healthy and glowing.

I use a Clarisonic. BEST INVESTMENT! It use it every night when I cleanse my skin with the Glycolic Acid Face Wash. My skin made a big turn around when I started using it. It gently exfoliates and smoothes the skin while helping reduce pour size! (get one)
