TLT Lookbook: Peplum

Hello! Welcome to the first edition of The Little Things Lookbook! In this series we will pick a specific trend, style, occasion etc... and feature several looks for it.

For our debut lookbook we will be showcasing a great trend, a peplum top! Peplum is an often misunderstood style and can be intimidating to wear. In this entry we will take you through 4 looks. Let's get started!

About the top:

This peplum top is from Target for $19.99 and comes in 4 colors. White, Navy, Kelly Green and Honey Suckle, which is a nice bright coral color.

I was searching for a plain peplum when I stumbled across this one. I love the flower lace detail and thought it was perfect for springtime.

I decided on white because we were taking some family portraits and it could easily suit my needs with some colored jewelry.

I wanted to take the photos outside, but it insisted on raining all day.

Look 1:

I paired the top with a nice black pencil skirt (Express) and black suede wedges from Burlington Coat Factory (Soda)

I accessorized with a fedora hat with an over-sized brim, a simple gold triangle necklace and gave the outfit a pop of color with a skinny yellow belt with a gold buckle. (XXI)

Look 2:

In this look I really wanted to play up the soft flower lace pattern. I paired it with a soft pink skinny jean (XXI) and some wedges with swirls of browns, pinks and white (Buckle)

For the accessories I went with a great springtime necklace with flowers of white and pinks (Icing) and a belt with flowers along that same color scheme (XXI)

Look 3:

For a casual look, I selected a dark wash skinny jean (Buckle) and some black booties with heels (Vince Camuto)

I went with cobalt for a pop of color and added a belt, chunky necklace and finished it off with a black tailored blazer (Target)

Forgive my face in this photo, very unenthusiastic!

Look 4:

This last look was paired with a navy & white striped tube skirt (Target) and some navy & brown heels (Antonio Melani)

I love navy and pink, so I topped this with a pale pink blazer (XXI) and a long 2-tiered turquoise necklace (Walmart)

And that's it for the first TLT Lookbook! I wanted to take the photos outside, but it insisted on raining all day so I created a backdrop and did my best! I'm still getting accustomed to the self timer and using a tripod on myself, but hopefully the photo/posing quality will improve over time! I could certainly use a personal photographer!

Let me know which look you liked best, if you liked this post and want to see another Lookbook. Feel free to leave suggestions down below in the comments! We read, respond and appreciate every comment!
